This Part is very hard to find, the easyest solution is to jump it. But remember, the Battery-Lifetime can be shorter than normal in turned off-mode, but not significantly! |

Member: 545078 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 9 | iphone 4 wifi weak signal, the solution before reballing Hello All, I share a solution for people with weak wifi signal on iphone 4. My solution is valable if you iphone is capable to see closest network. I mean if you put your iphone 10 cm from your adsl router, at least that network must been seen and at that distance you must be able to navigate on internet. This will assure you that the wifi IC it is working. By the way if you are not capable to see other networks as before (normally an iphone 4 is capable to discover all the wifi networks in the neighbooring, likely you have a problem in how the signal coming from wifi antenna reach the iA chip contained in U2_RF. So in other good solutions of this forum for this proble you have red that in case of weak signal you have to follow signal from SP2_RF up to the incoming point (port 5) in L18_RF. If you find there the problem ok my solution here is not needed. But if you see continuity in this path than you have to continue the job! the path continues in the other part of the board, so you need to focus on FL10 filter. The output of FL10 filter is XW14_RF and this pin is directly connected to an entry pad of iA chip contained in U2 (the little one). The problem here to me has been that we have not specification of U2_RF in its inside and so i did not know where to check continuity from XW14 to U2. Lucky me I had another board (for spare pieces) of the same type. So what i did? I removed FL10 in this spare board. This because as far as FL10 is soldered its outpūt at low frequencies (the ones your multimeter uses) is grounded. So it is almost impossible to understard where in U2_RF XW14_RF is connected as many points will be connected to ground. Once I removed FL10 in my spare board, XW14 was finally isolated and i could check all points close to iA chip and finally found the capacitor of U2 RF to which XW14 is directly connected. Following I show the pictures for my version of U2_RF with written solution. So to resume if you have (use picture to understand) my same version of U2_RF just follow instructions on the picture. Here a picture of solution applied and another pic to show how wifi signal has come back strong IMPORTANT : IF you have other version of U2, what I can suggest is to follow the same logic i did. You need a spare board that you know it works for what concern wifi signal. You desolder in this spare board FL10 and you find in the spare board the point (it must be a capacitor close to the iA chip) where XW14 is connected to U2_RF. Once you discover this point, just do the same thing i suggest in the picture for my U2 Version. You must check that the same entry point in your under repair board is grounded (you have not to desolder FL10 in the board you are repairing). If it is grounded it means that wifi antenna signal arrives to iA chip and you are in a problem because finally at this point it means something else is faulty. BUT if this entry point is not grounded it means that the signal from XW14 is cut likely one ball under U2. If you are in this case, just make a short from XW14 to this entry point IF my solution has helped please give me a thanks PePPoR6 |
