| ipod nano 4g no backlight after water damage Hi to all! One of my friends gave me his ipod nano 4g after it had a water damage... He cleaned and dried it as soon as possible, but screen didn't work (the rest is ok:it charges, it plays music, clickwheel works and so itunes syncing). I replaced the screen and have seen that its flat (ribbon) cable pins were a little oxidized, especially the ones on the left (the thicker ones), so I cleaned them with contact cleaner, but I have no backlight, I can only see a clear screen if I put it in front of a light source... I put the lcd flat cable under a strong light and a good magnifiyng lens, and by contrast you can see that the second pin of the thickest traces (counting from the left) is interrupetd in a tiny point. I have measured from the pins 2 and 3 of the connector on the lcd board and I have found that they go to the larger soldering point at the down-right corner of the lcd. When the ribbon is connected, I measure 4 Volts on pin 3 and 0 Volt on pin 2. It could be quite easy to fix if only I knew were to solder the wire on the logic board... Do you have alternative points from the logic board to the lcd board that I can solder together with thin wire, in order to have backlight back? If you need a photo, just ask! Many many thanks! |
