New iPad (3rd gen) weird backlight problem - GSM-Forum

Hi I got new iPad with retina display, was replacing the glass on it and noticed that the LCD right 1/3 of the screen has no backlight. I tried different LCD and its the same. I see this for the first time not sure what could cause this, there are no components next to connector to damage, and again its just right 1/3 of the screen. Any ideas?

because iPad 3 have 2 separate back light route and one of yours is short

will try to put new glass and just go to apple store maybe they will replace it under warranty

I also dont have the ip3 board for testing.
but since ipad 3 is really just a buffed up double track ipad 2

you can easily locate the ipad 3 2 backlight chips and 2 4R7 backlight coils

that leave only the backlight filters.... I am going to guess those two are under the metal shield next to the BL chip. because of the 2 filters location remain unknown the full solution is not ready but if you want to get the backlight chip or the 4R7 coils, visit cyberdocllc.com

tks noobfix, i measure the board coil already 4R7 coils and the small BL chips no short no broken. when my customer send over just change the touch screen. i also wonder why the lcd backlight will got problem???

did you measure the bl chip on both direction? only one side should have continuity. if you get it both ways then the chip is short. and can you get a better picture of the board without the metal frame ?
