What strength magnifying lens do I need?

Can someone please reply and let me know what an adequate strength magnifying lens would be to replace the FL4211 filter. Need to do it right away and cant wait on ordering it online. I want to see if I can find something local.

Hi,

If you are really desperate and have the skills and soldering equipment then you can just use Camera+ or similar on a separate iPhone, zoom in, switch the torch on and repair it like that with the phone balanced on a couple of books, its crude but it works for basic repairs if you can get the focus right.

Thanks so much for your advice. I have one more question or 2. Can FL4211 be bridged or a jumper wire to somewhere and get the backlight back working temporarily? Also how do I test to know for sure if FL4211 is bad?

Hi,

You can bridge it if the component has not become physically detached from the board, I strongly recommend against it because one false move and you can end up wrecking the whole back light circuit by shorting it to ground.

If you check the filter with a multi meter it will show open circuit or high resistance if its faulty.

More often than not the component has either gone missing by ****ing its self from the board or scorching the under fill to an easily visible level.

If you do intend on bridging the filter then check you haven't shorted it to ground or to any nearby components with a multi meter before you try to put power on the board.

We really are talking basics and very poor practice here, I by no means recommend what I am saying in this thread but if you truly are desperate to get this board up and running and are willing to take some risks and shortcuts then done correctly and carefully my recommendations will work.

My recommendations are also what most crappy market repairers do to fix your phone on the cheap to save buying the right equipment and components.

Here is the pic I hope

Totally understand. I am going to post a pic of it. It is the best I could do at this time with a Galaxy phone. it seems to be missing the part that attaches to the board on the end near the touch screen connector. May just still have the black junk on it.

As expected the pads were messed up on FL4211. Please can someone show me how to jump or bridge that filter somewhere else to make it work?
