Help w/ Soldering i897 JTAG Pads

Ok so I've got experiencing in soldering but never anything this SMALL. My current soldering station has always worked but was barely small enough to setup and solder the RIFF connector cable to the RIFF board. However, the phones JTAG points are literally within a centimeter of each other. One wrong move and I'd spill solder and connect the points. Any advice on what soldering station I need or maybe a better way to attempt this? I checked Multi-Com's website and they do not have a JTAG adapter for this phone so I'll be doing it the hard way. Thanks!

Here is a picture of the JTAG points. I know what I need to do, just not the easiest way to do it. I have the RIFF cable soldered to the RIFF board for all 20 pins. Now I just need to learn how to get the phones JTAG points connected to that RIFF board. Ahhhhh I wish I had a JTAG adapter for this phone!

Thanks so much!

Also here is a picture of my RIFF soldering. I grouped together all the grounds and directly connected to pin 20 on the board to simply it and make soldering at the board easier.

Does this look OK? I'm a totally newbie to this so help is appreciated!

oO, it looks not very good. I think it's not good enough to soldier on this extremly small JTAG-Pads of this phone. This jtag-pads are very, very sensitive. If your soldiering temperatur ist to high the jtag-pads are gone within a second

On my first Phone of this modell one jtag-pad is gone

Does anyone have a link to a JTAG adapter? I can not find one for the i897 Captivate. I'd gladly buy one if I could...

Hi,
You can use insulated thin wire used in transformers or coils. It's tiny enough and will not damage PCB PAD-s if pulled, and in other hand its insulated so You wont have troubles if wires touch each other.

Awesome thanks for your response I figured you would chime in sooner or later... . Do you have any suggestions on what tip I should use to solder with? Just the finest, smallest and sharpest tip I guess?

I use a good optical microscope (with a magnification of 20 and 40 x) for almost ALL of my resurrections (except maybe i5700 and co.) I advice you to do so.... And change the wires to thinners from a good IDE cable for example...
