Hello.

Repairing Nokia X (Rm-980) is supported via JTAG in the old Medusa Software. Please install the latest version of old Medusa Software 2.6.1.5 (Medusa Box Downloads - Software, Drivers, Manual), select this model in Software list, press "Help" button to look at JTAG pinout picture, solder all necessary JTAG wires (make each of them as short as possible (max. 3-5 CM length)) and try to repair the phone. Don't forget to make backup (read Full flash) before repairing. Post here the result.

Also, please read these rules:

In most cases this error means, that there is a problem with your phone's flash chip (damaged of write protected).

Also, to connect the phone, try to do the next:

1. Re-solder all JTAG wires, make each of them as short as possible.
2. Fully charge phone's battery by using external charger.
3. Disconnect the phone from PC, remove the battery, then press and hold "Power" button for 10-15 seconds to fully deenergize (discharge) the phone.
4. Connect the phone to Box, press "Connect" button in Software and connect battery. Also try to connect with USB cable.
5. Try to connect the phone with different values of JTAG Speed.

Try to connect the device a few times, if the problem is still present, check HW.
