hey, my htc dongle is ver 1, and its saying update is required... how do i update?

Download latest 3.0 or 2.05 version from support or mirror support area, open *.exe file and after Software read the dongle information will ask to update

make sure that u have OK internet connection and disconect all other smart card devices from ur pc.
If update stuck on some percent, wait - sometimes need more than 4-5 minutes for update, do not disconect dongle till finish
