Unhappy System Does not recognise Phone

I have a Sony CMD Z7e. I connect to the Windows XP via a USB cable. But when I run the unlocking software the software does not recognise the port? Anyone have any solutions? Do I need any additional software? Please Help!

Yes, simply to sort out, use Windows 98 SE, old phone > old unlock software > old operating system

Done that

Thanks for the reply. Actually I am doing that but still the software doesn't read the phone I get no codes. Now I am wondering if the cable is ok. Will it work with a USB cable? Do I need to change something in the Win 98 set up? If anybody got replies do post. Looking forward.

Won't work with a USB cable only serial And make sure you have unlock/service cable and not just a sync cable.

Ok thanks for the info. Now the problem is that the phone has got locked out. I must have typed some wrong code that did flash on the screen. Now when I switch off and on the phone the keys freeze and there is a message on the phone: "Unsuccessful". Any way out of this problem? Is the phone lost? Maybe should take it to some expert.

Judging by what you have said and done I think that is the best idea you have had so far
