Hello.

If after Factory Reset problem remains the same - try to reflash the phone. Also, try to change google account and check whether problem remains.
Firmwares for GT-I9003 are available in the Support Area. To enter Support Area, press "Go to support" button on "Support & options" tab of the Software.

You can try to write any Android 2.3.6 firmware from the Support Area.

Try to force stop Play Store from Application manager, then launch it again. If problem will remain the same - try to write different firmwares one by one. Currently no other solution.
