compare pictures on gsmarena
Google for model written on the label like PB91233 (not real, just an example)

IMEI lookup | TAC list | phone model lookup | IMEI number lookup | TAC database | IMEI database | IMEI TAC | IMEI search

Htc phones can easily be identified by nicknames eg chacha, desire, escalibur.
The nicknames are what you find on the firmware packages eg RUU_leo, RUU_runnymede
RUU_bravo.
remove and insert battery, press and hold the volume down and power on.

look on top you should see nickname like runnymede, leo, bravo etc.
