I have noticed strange activity lately on this forum section. A member called omiit was trying to make you download a file from his site which was UPX packed and had a bad Trojan Virus with password steal - and remote control capabilities.

Also some strange posts like the one below show an attempt of making you download a trojan:

The guy who wants you to dowload these programs (no, its not from simemu) want to get something very valuable from you: Your Ki, that might still be stored in the default directories of Woronscan, Simscan and so on. At the same time they get the password used for this forum board and other ones stored as cookies and so on.

best, you disable your Sim-card through your network provider and tell them your simcard got stolen.



fkp, you should be running an Antivirus program that is capable to catch such attempts like:

http://www.free-av.com/ it is free (as long as you use it for private) and a capable program that recognizes even java and other script viruses while you are surfing. If you have no other antivirus program, download this one (the classic version is the free one)

http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/fre...60_631_002.exe is a link to the zonelab's ZONE-ALARM Firewall application. This program would have shown you the attempt of the Trojan to connect to the internet for "strange" activities. This program is free too and should be running on every computer instead of WinXP SP2 firewall.

and last but not least, another free and I think one of the BEST free programs on the net to avoid getting dialer and ad-ware is SPYWAREBLASTER available from http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/ . This program runs only ones and make adjustments in the registry to occupy the positions where ad-ware programs hook in. It is not a resident program, but believe me VERY VERY good.


It took me months to get the best combination of software but now I know I am a bit safer then before. Also, remember, everybody might be a BAD guy among us, so always check your downloads before you run them.
