Member: 72344 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Quick question I'm having to brush up on SIM cloning rather quickly for a news item I'm being interviewed about this afternoon(!) Without getting too techy, this is as much as I've learnt: 1) To clone a SIM you need direct access to the card. 2) A SIM card's 'key' is protected by a code. 3) Using widely available equipment it is possible to crack this code and clone the card, usually this takes several hours. 4) Newer 'V2' cards are impossible to crack using current methods (I think in the UK this basically covers any card received in the last two years). 5) Work is being done to try and crack the newer V2 cards. Is this all correct and is there anything glaringly obvious that I've missed? Don't want to put my foot in it on live TV Thanks Dan |
