Is Motorola model selection really important to submit imei ?

Hi,

a customer brought his phone to unlock it, but there's no more print on the back of the battery door, and I'm not allowed to access phone (he doesn't want to give me the code).
Of course he doesn't know himself which specific model it is.

So among razr models pictures I found, it really looks close to the razr maxx.

Anyway my question is : if I select razr maxx and that is not really the right model, will I get a wrong code ?

Thank you for your answer, BR
