I think you having problem in trackball and sometimes dust and another irritating thing stuck on it you need to do proper cleansing of it all of your issue solved b it.

90% working solution is reflow( retin pads with solder iron ) or replace u803 and pictured in red

this solution is if trackpad only activates,(SELECTS)
doesnot go lft or rght or neither up or down.
THESE ARE THE DIRECTIONAL ICS FOR TRACKPAD 8520

Only if trackpad goes up & down & left or right but does not select then change this ic

D1117 and D1118 belong to micro sd reader circuit. They have no connection or function in trackpad circuitry. See schematics

Blackberry 8520 optical trackpad salutions

1) Change Trackpad
2) Reflow or change u803 Trackpad Regulator
3) finaly Check & Clean Trackball Connector or Replace
