Member: 901370 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | Blackberry charging port broken We have 200 of these devices in the field. So far 6% of them have come back with this exact problem. We are investigating whether this is an inherent weakness in the design. The numbers being returned are too high to be coincidental and we have never had this issue with any other model - used 9320's before this. Will keep you posted. I have tried unsuccessfully to repair several of them, but no joy so far - The port doesn't appear to be "soldered" to the board in the conventional sense, just surface mounted in each of those 4 holes in your picture. Have tried to reconnect the pins using a soldering iron, but you can't get a clean joint as you have to pull the iron back from what you are trying to solder to - very frustrating. |

Member: 358595 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 8 | As I was not sure if the board is a multi-layer board and damaged pins as connected to other layers or not, not attempted soldering it back on yet. I found a cheap 9720 with faulty screen and swapped the boards and have a working phone now. Thanks |
