ok. I've flashed the MK6 firmware, however its coming up on my display that google play has stopped responding. now for rooting after its all sorted will i be able to remove the rooting and keep my IMEI number. and what rooting should i use?
I've fixed the google play not responding being displayed just by doing a factory reset

Mate, this process is trial and error, if we can restore back the original imei because I encountered same issue already which I applied this method and I got it working.
BUT, not all can be restored back in this process in which,
you may now be needing a box to rewrite the imei.

Now, about your question, you can just full unroot your device without flashing (SuperUser).

OK, copy the 2 files in your sdcard and flash it through recovery.
First you need to flash the Kernel before the modem.

Let's see how it work.

do i need to unzip them both or just copy them as zip to my sdcard? ive also added the two files but only the modem is showing up in sdcard not the kernel?

No need to unzip.just copy it in your sdcard (let's say DOWNLOAD FOLDER).the kernel should appear both.
