Member: 296999 Status: Offline Sonork: not avaible Thanks Meter: 83 | C:\opt\android-sdk_r06-windows\android-sdk-windows Instructions for rooting Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 Aggregated from AllGamer's instructions: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7538723#post7538723 And a few other threads. + Download Android SDK from Google developer.android.com/sdk/index.html + Download the update.zip (su, busybox, Superuser.apk) specific to Bell's GT-I9000M: ip208-100-42-21.static.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7536130&postcount=11 + Install Android SDK and 2.1 dev add ons, in this example to: C:\opt\android-sdk_r06-windows\android-sdk-windows + Copy the update.zip to C:\opt\android-sdk_r06-windows\android-sdk-windows\tools (or use an absolute path later). + Install Samsung Kies to get USB drivers + On phone enable debug: Application > Settings > Development > USB Debugging + Plug in phone to USB on computer > cd C:\opt\android-sdk_r06-windows\android-sdk-windows\tools > adb devices List of devices attached 90006adfcfd9 device > adb push update.zip /sdcard/update.zip 1191 KB/s (0 bytes in 648236.000s) > adb reboot recovery Phone reboots + Phone volume down and select with home button "Install sdcard:update.zip" Install proceeds Phone reboots + Check su using an app that requires root, or Android Terminal Emulator (free) and do su from the prompt. Further reading: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596 How do I safely backup the original firmware on my Samsung Galaxy S I9000? (from Bell, actually GT-i9000M). I want to take the backup *before* I root the phone. I've seen these threads about the lag fix and whatnot: Clockwork Recovery / nandroid forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734166&page=23 Lag fix forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=749495 forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755828 (Sorry about the non-links -- I'm a n00b here so no link perms.) As well as the links to the stock roms on samsung-firmware.webs.com. Unfortunately they don't include the firmware for Bell's Galaxy S: I9000UGJG9 I9000UGJG9 I9000BMCJG9 (shown via *#1234#) It sounds like nandroid does not always work properly. The "safe" Clockwork Recovery reboot to get nandroid uses update.zip to load, so it's not clear how safe that would be if something went wrong! Seems like Odin 3 can grab a dump but I haven't seen a clear guide to which magical button to press. Is there a truly safe way to get images of the original firmware prior to rooting? Thanks in advance! For anyone that's wondering, Samsung Galaxy S I9000 is an awesome device! UPDATE: I somehow missed this thread in my original troll: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746153 Good post there by r3loaded2010. The quick summary: since rooting is just placing a few new files on your phone, deleting those files returns your phone to its pre-rooted state. This thread has a link to the supposedly correct update.zip for Bell's Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000M forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7538723#post7538723 i try with this method but i want to know without menu how can i USB Debugging on or how to know in my phone usb debugging mode on please reply me |
