| VAGCOM 704.1 Problem Hi guys, I have a problem with my vagcom 704. We accidentally upgraded to the new version and it killed it. Now, I tried the method where you edit the inf file add %USB\VID_xxxx&PID_xxxx.DeviceDesc%=FTD2XX, USB\VID_xxxx&PID_xxxx etc etc However, when it's supposed to be detected by the system (windows xo), it says that something is wrong with the inf file and the driver cannot be installed. I double checked everything in the inf file and every entry and is correct. How do I proceed from here? Do I have to program the atmel chip on my programmer? Anyone knows the exact steps as the thread I found in here does not have any instructions. Thanks in advance George |

| Hi! I had the same problem with my VAG106 cable. I resolved it with the instruction available for the 704 version, with the driver edit method that you mentioned. Just edit the inf file to be able to load the ftdi driver. You basically do not need to reprogram the ftdi chip, just erase it. Download the drivers first FTDI Drivers Then download the program utility: FTDI Utilities Extract the drivers. Then extract the ftd2xxst.exe in the i386 folder of the drivers. Run ftd2xxst and follow the instructions from the manual. Erase the chip! Now run the version of vag com (for me was vcds 10.6.2) that is supposed to work with your cable. And in the same way that it killed the cable in the first place, it should notice you that you have a dead cable, and "would you like to update?". Confirm and that's it. Now the cable shouls be back to it's original state and working. I hope it helped. Good Luck. |
