Remove memory and you will be able to see two jumpers J11 and short the jumper and switch on the laptop leave it for 20 to 30 second.... Switch off the laptop and switch on again your password will be clear. Hope this helps..... Laptop professional repair

Hi-

I was wondering if someone could help with a dell inspiron 17r 5721 laptop I picked up at a yard sale. The person selling it didn't remember what the BIOS or HHD passwords are which is why they were selling it for parts (I had them sign a paper saying they sold it to me just to protect myself) but I can't access the BIOS by pressing F2 for the BIOS or any function like the F12 for selecting a different boot device like CD-rom.

With the harddrive taken out of the laptop and hitting the enter key 3 times brings up the BIOS Lock screen

System Disable
[5C7B812EC2ABAA25]
Service Tag
5VMPGW1

With the harddrive installed in the laptop hitting the enter key 3 times bring up the Hard drive lock screen

System Disable
[3A816B0F10A30681] (hard to tell if they are Zeros or the letter O)

5VMPGW1

is there anyone out there that can supply me the BIOS lock or point me in the right direction so I can (if possible) do it myself.
