Hello.

Please, make sure that You connect the phone via USB cable directly to USB port of your PC, also before perform any actions with your phone, read software manual carefully, all information about available operations, drivers, etc, are there ( press Cable & Manual) button, then try to perform operation which You need and post here software log.
