WHEN IN DOWNLOAD MODE COMPUTER WILL NOT RECOGNIZE IT

WHEN IN FASTBOOT MODE STARTED COMPUTER WILL RECOGNIZE IT? ANY IDEAS?

What is the state of your device exxctly? What actions do You want to perform with it? What device appears in PC Device Manager, when You connect the phone in Download Mode?

To connect the phone in Normal Mode, do the next: Type ##3424#, go to "Diag" menu and select "Enable". Note, this menu can be blocked by SPC/MSL.

i cant get to diag mode when i start it it goes to fastboot mode started

Try to power off the phone and connect it via LG P999 cable (with 910 kOhm resistor inside) to PC. Check, whether device goes into Download Mode after cable is connected.

can i flash this particular model through octopus box?

Unfortunately, "Write Firmware" operation is currently not supported for LS980.

On your own risk, You can try to find original flasher and try to re-flash the phone with it.
