What cable do You use exactly? You should use the special LG P999 cable (with 910k resistor inside), not standart Micro USB cable.

Also say, what is the problem with your device exactly? What is the state of the phone? What is the firmware version in the phone? Why do You want to write firmware?

Install the latest Software version (Software), connect the phone directly to PC motherboard USB port (don't use any USB hubs, this is important) and try to write firmware again.

Most likely, your device has HW issues (problems with phone's flash chip). Anyway, try to write other firmwares. If the problem is the same - check HW.
