Member: 1872864 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | I have an identical working model next to me. Am I able to read the firmware out of the good one and load it into the bad one to get it working? My guess is that my carrier ordered a special version of the device just for them. The full model number of my modem is e353tu-6. And the firmware version of the working one seems to be newer than all of the other ones I've been able to find. |

Member: 1872864 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | Yes according to Mobile Partner the IMEI matches what is printed on the box and the modem. The firmware version that I have installed in the modem is 11.810.09.20.264 however the firmware in the good one that I also have is 11.810.13.02.302. Any more ideas? |

Member: 1872864 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | Correct. According to dc-unlocker there is no voice support in the firmware. Any ideas where to get a version that does support voice? Thanks for helping me out by the way. At least I have a working data modem again. Would be nice to get voice capabilities as well though |

Member: 1875869 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 2 | Huawei EM820W Hi there, Thanks for sharing that nice development ! I've a nice problem to resolve. Due to 3G android RIL issue (3G disconnections with USB falling to another PID) I've removed the EM820W from the tablet.(original f/w 11.810.09.19.00) Original vid : 12d1 pid: 1404 I've unfortunately flashed it with the last Huawei official f/w rel 11.810.10.02.00. This has turned the modem into an MBIM modem compatible with Win8 only ! New vid: 12d1 pid :1571 I've been able to switch the modem back to a standard mode with Win7, hacking the drivers. Now it shows the USB virtual COM ports and dc-unlocker can talk with the modem. Here is what it shows: Quote:
I've a firmware file that looks correctly extracted by your flasher. Unfortunately Huwaei flasher returns 'No response from Com port' It reports a 3G PC UI Interface (COM13) which looks correct when I check in the device manager under USB controllers. The modem diagnostics in the device manager does return the correct information, and dc-unlocker can also communicate with the modem. I've tried to run revskills as advised in an earlier post but to no avail. Any suggestion to resolve the communication error ? Thanks in advance. Member: 1875869 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 2 | Huawei EM820W (follow-up) Interesting ! Now the modem can communicate with Huawei flasher. For some reason likely due to the MBIM config, there were two modem instances in Device Manager: Under Network cards: - HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G Network Card #2 Under Modems - HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G Modem I've disabled the first instance to keep only the modem enabled. Now Huawei flasher returns: Quote:
I'll keep you posted on further progress. Regards Yves | |

Member: 10397 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 45 | YLG80 First of all, I would suggest you to install the latest Huawei modem driver. Second, look at results of AT^SETPORT? and AT^SETPORT=? commands execution. Question: Why didn't you try to flash your modem in a usual way, i.e. with original EXE-updater? |

Member: 1875869 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 2 | Huawei EM820W (follow-up) Hello vve, Thanks for your reply. Since the modem is now MBIM compatible it has a totally different behavior. Only Win8 can play with such a beast . I cannot use the usual EM820WUpdatexx.xx.xx.xx.xx.exe because : 1- I've not found that update. I've only the Android update files that are also correctly parsed by Huawei flasher. 2- As the modem is in MBIM mode, as soon as there is something changing in the driver, i.e. switch to diag or PC UI mode or whatever, I'm loosing the communication as all USB Com port are disconnected. This is really tricky. I've tried to to flash the modem with Huawei flasher 1.1, but the same problem occured. As soon as Huawei flasher has switched the modem to another mode for programming, I've lost the communication. (the 4 USB com ports have vanished in the Device Manager.) When Huawei Flasher has switched the modem for programming, the vid/pid have changed from 12d1/1571 to 12d1/1568 which is normal for firmware updates ,I guess . ( same behavior in Android but former vid/pid were 12d1/1404 and 12d1/1003) Now the question is : what drivers do I have to see in the Device Manager when in firmware update mode. If I know that I will try to hack the driver so that it will not loose the communication. During my first test, it returned to MBIM mode. I told you that it is an interesting question ! Never update a modem to Win8 MBIM if your intent is to use it with another OS. Regards Yves BTW, thanks for the new drivers. I'm using hacked driver version 4.20.05.00. Will check what's new in the new driver set. Last edited by YLG80; 01-29-2013 at 18:16. |

Member: 1875869 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 2 | Huawei EM820W (continued) @vve, Yes I will use that driver set. Thanks. I'm analysing the drivers and will use them. Report soon. However, I've to hack them as they don't include yet the new vid/pid. Try VID: 12D1, PID:1568 in Google ! This is the reason why I need to know wich drivers are being used during the update process. Up to now, everything is OK, but I'm loosing the com ports as soon as the HF switches to update mode. The modem returns to the Win8 MBIM configuration with another vid/pid. This is a totally new modem mode ! Very easy with Win8, very annoying with other OS ! It's really difficult to switch it to the standard Win7 or older mode. I suppose HF will use these drivers during the update : ew_hwupgrade.sys w_hwusbdev.sys But perhaps others ? Regards Yves |
