Micromax A110 Canvas 2 is getting Jelly Bean next week

It’s official Micromax A110 will get the Jelly Bean update

If you are a proud owner of Micromax A110 canvas 2 and are eagerly waiting to get the handset upgraded to the Android Jelly Bean OS, well here’s good news. Micromax will officially provide the Jelly Bean upgrade for the A110 model.

There are some custom Jelly Bean ROM’s listed on the XDA forum, though some work really well, installing it will void the warranty. Those who do not want to take the risk can now get it done, officially.

Having said that the process is not that simple, well you don’t have to do anything, in fact OTA (over the Air) update is not available. This means that you will need to visit the nearest Micromax service center and get the update done.

The JB upgrade will be available next week and it will be better if you call the service centre and confirm if they have the JB update ready. This is a very good move by Micromax as we have often seen that low budget handsets are usually ignored when it comes to software upgrades

Micromax Funbook talk P362 tablet with voice calling launched

Micromax Funbook talk P362 tablet with voice calling launched

Micromax has launched the Micromax Funbook talk P362 a Jelly Bean powered tablet with voice call feature. This is the second Funbook talk tablet from Micromax.

The first Micromax talk tablet – model no P350 also supported voice call. There is not much difference between these two models. The P362 runs on Jelly Bean 4.1 OS powered by 1.2GHz single core cortex A9 processor with better battery mAh capacity and dual cameras.

There is 2MP rear camera and a 0.3 MP front camera. The camera can record videos in VGA mode and you can easily play 1080p videos. There is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm jack and micro USB. There is also a SIM slot that work with 2G networks only. There is no built in 3G support but you can connect external dongle. There no built in GPS receiver either.

The screen size and resolution is the same as with the older talk model, i.e. 7 inch with 800×480 pixels resolution with 16M colours. The RAM is at a good 1GB capacity with 4GB internal storage and microSD card slot.

The pricing I believe will be slightly more than the P350 tablet.

Micromax Funbook P362 key features and specifications

  • 7 inch tablet with 800×480 pixel resolution.
  • 1.2GHz single core cortex A9 processor, probably with Mali 400 GPU.
  • 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage and micro SD slot.
  • Android Jelly Bean 4.1.
  • 2G with voice call, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, micro USB and 3.5mm jack.
  • 2MP rear camera and 0.3MP front camera.
  • 3000 mAh battery with over 3 hours of browsing time.

Will the Micromax quad core be the next Micromax Canvas 3?

Will the Micromax quad core be the next Micromax Canvas 3?

The net is buzzing with news about the Canvas 3 that will be launched soon for under Rs. 15K. There is no official confirmation yet, and all that you read are speculations. As you all known the quad core chipset is already launched and handsets powered by quad core processors are not far away.

At some point of time every mobile company will launch their quad core version. The most exciting thing now is, who will be the first to launch a low cost quad core handset. Will it be Micromax, ZOPO or any other company?

ZOPO has already unveiled their plans of a quad core model (5.7 inch quad core), you can view it on their official website. As for Micromax nothing is confirmed yet. However every other site is coming up with their own version / specifications and some already named it the Canvas 3.

I believe Micromax will name it something else. No doubt the canvas model is a hit but the quad core is a different technology and probably they will try to market it with a different name. Also remember the Canvas series are 5 inch phones so if MMX is planning for a quad core with a smaller screen, it is logical they will not call it the Canvas.

RAM and screen size will play an important role to keep the price at the lowest. A price tag of less than 15K is possible with 1GB RAM. Anything above 1GB RAM will be over 15K. So let’s wait and watch for the quad core handset. As for the specification we can easily speculate the screen size, quad core , RAM, internal storage, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS etc. and of course the battery. Rather, I would wait for an official confirmation.

Micromax A115 Canvas 3D with dual core processor surfaces in Leaked images

Micromax A115 Canvas 3D with dual core processor surfaces in Leaked images

After launching the quad core A116 at an affordable rate, Micromax may now be touting the concept of a 3D UI with its purported A115 Canvas 3D. This smartphone has supposedly reached the last stage of development and could be making its presence known shortly.

A couple of the handset’s images that had been spotted earlier today by the folks over at Fone Arena, get the rumor mill running further. The original source of the news however happens to be a Twitter account dubbed @MMXNewscaster which specializes in proffering news related to the company in question.

The report furthermore alludes that in spite of not shipping with a stereoscopic 3D display, the phone will be capable enough to spurt out 3D images, just as seen in the picture embedded above. Apart from the leaked pictures, the post treats us to a number of the device’s rumored specifications.

Apparently, it has been optimized for version 4.1.2 of Android and has been tuned to gain impetus from a dual core MediaTek processor. Slapped across its front panel is said to be a 5-inch display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. If the report is to be trusted, an 8MP camera has been positioned on the rear panel and takes a seat above an LED flash. Sharing space with the screen could be a 2MP webcam.

Bearing in mind that the OEM hasn’t made any statement authenticating the existence of the smartphone, the Twitter account appears to have done a creditable job in providing the particulars. On the other hand, we might have to wait for the official launch in order to lay hands over the final components.

The price details of the Micromax A115 Canvas 3D are still uncertain, but sources state that it will be pegged below Rs. 15,000 akin to the HD version. This retail tag may seem too less, considering that manufacturers don’t hesitate before smearing 3D phones with a steep MRP. But judging by the Indian company’s reputation of proffering affordable good quality smartphones, one can never tell. Whatever may be the case, we plan on keeping our readers posted.
