When Mac is showing a folder with question marks, it means that it cannot find boot directory. To fix this simply boot into recovery ( Command + R)
Once you are in recovery mode, click apple logo on top left, and select Startup Disk. This will bring an window showing you all the disks you have, select the hard drive where the OS is installed and should work now.
If you encounter an password while trying to access the EFI, you can use HDBox to findout that password, works great on EFI passwords.
