macbook pro with folder and question mark - GSM-Forum

hi to all i have an macbook pro 15" model A1286 i locked it with iCloud (pin code ) and i forget the passcode and while trying any solution i open it and remove the hard drive and connected it to another mac and erase it with disk utility and now when i put it back when i start the mac i get a folder with question blinking i tried to shut it down and enter to startup manager (with alt key) he won't enter and i tried cmd+s nothing else the folder with question mark if some one have any solution please help me

You need to hold command + R during start up to enter efi menu, you then use disk utility to format and install new osx

You can start reading this post .
You have to remove the EFI password & after that install new OS X

I must suggest you to install new OS X... It will work then for sure

the problem is my mac won't enter to startup manager so i can't install anything

Try hold comand + R both button together before power up, if failed try option + r

Just hold "option" key

May be your key board is faulty, try with a USB keyboard

If your mac book is before 2010, it is FREE & easy job. After 2010 mac use the 4 digit pin which will cost to unlock.
