Android port for Samsung WAVE3 (GT-S8600)
Hi all.
This thread only for developers! Only! No questions - when?!!!!!!!

This is my attempt to porting android on S8600.
I wrote custom bootloader - emmcboot, based on codeaurora LK-bootloader.
Bootloader is successfully start, work and trying to load android kernel from internal
microsd card.
Now is unsuccessfully, after type message "Uncompressing Linux... done, booting the kernel." device rebooted or stopped.

source code for lk-bootloader for S8600:
https://github.com/Oleg-k/LK_BOOT_S8600
To build for S8600, type: "make -j4 s8600 EMMC_BOOT=1"

Also, i got memory dump, stage - after load oemsbl and before loading my bootloader.
as we see, oemsbl decompress and load apps_compressed.bin into memory,
starting at 0x200000.

And for for understanding boot process on MSM7x30, read this:

1 bigger problem is to play without JTAG...
xda-developers - View Single Post - Android port for Samsung WAVE3 (GT-S8600)

appsboot.mbn is the mandatory file, what oleg_k replaced via JTAG (RIFF Box for instance).

I have now found way to kill Bootchain via Multiloader + osbl.bin...
Then result is this:
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f818...e-3-a-1610764/

There are several infos about QPST and eMMC app...
Maybe in combination with these files from S8600:
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/10009255-post3.html

1 Tut as example:
[Tutorial] Revive dead Karbonn A9+/CM Flare after JB update - xda-developers

For me not solved yet, to find correct files/settings for QPST eMMC app.

But this would be big step forward, if someone knows how to write something with Qualcomm Emergency DL... to S8600.

Best Regards

Is someone able to tell me. How oleg_k startet kernel?

It seems different way as on S8500/S8530...
zImage to "Phone memory"...

I9001 for instance start kernel at 0x9000000...
S8600 apps_compressd is loading from 0x8000000...

I have tried few JTAG dumps...
Code:
I9001
I8150
I8350
Sometimes I can see something on Display... like Samsung Logo or DL Mode ... Flash Tools detect device... but here it seems f. Security prevent more success...

Best Regards

Is somebody here, with S8600 + solder skills + JTAG + willing to try few things?
Please.

If you have JTAG + S8600 you could write here or contact me via PM or in XDA forum.

At the moment I need someone to confirm my "tests", maybe I do something wrong...

In other words. S O S

Thanx in advance.

Best Regards

I am closer to write appsboot/emmcboot to S8600... without JTAG.
This means NOT Android port is finished nor started...

After QPST I found another way to write oleg_k EMMCBOOT aka appsboot into S8600...

This time much easier...
EMMCBOOT from oleg_k is "injected" into apps_compressed.bin from XXKJC:
apps_EMMCv1

For more info:
Android port for Samsung WAVE3 (GT-S8600) - Post #347 - XDA

Simple use Multiloader + my modified apps_compressed.bin and you can see oleg_k Low Kernel running...
Nothing more, because Android Kernel is missing...

At your own risk and only for study...

This means you could inject ca. 340 KB own Code into apps_compressed.bin without killing integrety...

Best Regards

Little progress...

Video about S8600 booting I9001 kernel... before reboot.
Android port for Samsung WAVE3 (GT-S8600) - Post #506 - XDA Forum
Achieved with this I9001 dump from 0 - 0x0900 0000... and mixed with Samsung_GTI9001_2GB.rar

For now only with JTAG...
In theory via QPST possible... but dangerous because whole EMMC partition layout is nuked by I9001 stuff...Will try to mix with 4 GB dump... maybe longer start...Best Regards

Little progress:
Android port for Samsung WAVE3 (GT-S8600) - Post #655 - XDA Forum

If someone with S8600 and JTAG have too much time...
He could help me...

This is also via QPST and without JTAG possible...
But more dangerous, as you have no chance without JTAG to repair Boot or other stupid Firmware ""crashes""...

For study...
