iPhone 4S iOS 7.1.2 - Sprint Bad ESN - Question about options - GSM-Forum

Have a iPhone 4S bad esn running iOS 7.1.2.

1) I want to make this phone be able to work in Canada, to be more specific the carrier is "wind mobile" in Canada. If not Wind Mobile, then please let me know which ones in Canada work.

2) I saw that there were two r-sim cards i should look at, the r-sim air 2 and the r-sim 9+ nano cloud. What are the differences between the two? And which one of these will work with my sprint bad esn iPhone 4s?

Thanks for your reply. I heard that sprint phones are a little bit more complicated than most phone carriers, so that's why they released r-sim air 2. I was just kind of overwhelmed by all the r-sim types and don't know the difference between them at all. Makes no sense to me. I also hear they are releasing a new r-sim pro 10 next month or something.

Since the phone I have has a bad esn, will the r-sim 9 pro make it work with other carriers? Would I have to jailbreak? I wanted to send this phone to a relative in Canada since it has a bad esn here, just want to know what my options are.

I specialize in 4S unlocking and have done about 500.

You do have to jailbreak unless you use a 64K SIM card. How would you know? Well, put your SIM over the RSIM or GPP, choose the Sprint option, restart the phone, and see if you have any service. You can then download the 2g/3g patch from unlockpro.ru/nano4g and see if 3G/patch closed mode is supported. If only 2g/patch open mode or nothing at all is supported, then you would have to jailbreak.

Suitable chips include RSIM 9, RSIM Air, & GPP. I don't particularly recommend the RSIM 9 because it's a nano SIM, so you have to cut your SIM down, but it doesn't really matter. Please remember to choose 4S iOS6 mode on the RSIM 9 though.

Almost every SIM card will work except those using embedded chip technology, usually marked with a hologram on the SIM card.

Hello SIM Tester:
I had some experience unlocking iphone 4S and i already unlock a lot of them specially with r-sim9 pro and everything was ok with Sprint 4S until this one i had now...
No matter what Sprint SIM card i use to activate it i always end with unknow number under Settings> Phone and after i got home screen i always get this Message: The iPhone is not Activate, if the problem persist contact your provider.
Then i cant send SMS, call is working but NO SMS for me...
The phone was with 7.1.1 so i Jailbreak it and install C1:R-SIM patch and commcenter patch from isamteam dot com and still cant not send sms.
I restore to 8.1 and still get signal and i can make calls but no sms...
I will try to Jailbreak it Again to see what happen...
Any advise? Please help/.

Please read my guide. Don't install any patches except commcenter patch from apt.chinasnow.net
