So i was going nuts on why the adapter wont update and i figured it out. stupid driver issue with windows 10. I'm guessing most ppl now use windows 10 and the driver no longer works with it correctly. Just google

prolific usb to serial comm port driver windows 10 and download based of 32 or 64 bit.

If you still have no luck manually install the drivers and the drivers will have dates next to them install the oldest driver version and it will work
