my 4s is locked to uk 02.
i use it in belgium.

I tried hard to make it work but it doesn't. I'm using a SPRINT IPHONE 4S IOS 7.1 on Claro BR network.

Invalid SIM means wrong carrier is selected in R-SIM menu. Insert another SIM to reset menu over R-SIM Air.

R-SIM Air works with 3G & SMS on 128K SIM if

1)iPhone is jailbroken and Neter patch is applied or carrier bundles are redirected in iFile OR

2)iPhone is attached to Sprint or Verizon account instead of No Service or signal bars only. Apply iRose patch from unlockru.nano4g to Force 3G and disable CDMA network. iPhone will show former Sprint or Verizon phone number in Settings, Phone, My Number OR

3)iPhone is GSM-locked.

AND

You choose Mode2 in the setup menu prior to choosing your locked carrier.

For condition 2) to apply, you may need to be using the iPhone in the USA or in a country that supports CDMA networks. Otherwise, you need to be jailbroken(iOS <7.1 and not OTA updated to current iOS revision).

If you cannot satisfy conditions 1, 2, or 3, you will need to purchase a regular SIM card and cut it to micro size (64K 2G SIM). Some carriers do not have 64K 2G SIM available. Any SIM card that supports LTE will not support iPhone 4S unless condition 1, 2, or 3 is met.

You need to chose Mode2 in initial setup menu before choosing carrier.

I tried a brand new regular SIM card (cutted), but still not working.... Activation required or invalid sim alert still showing up... * sorry my bad english

With 128k regular sim card from TIM BRAZIL, services description:
CALLS OK
Incoming sms OK
outgoing SMS NOT OK
2G and 3G NOT OK
Contacts DO NOT RECOGNIZED
"Iphone is not activated" message appears sometimes (but now gone)....
Any tips?

Sprint iphone will not get you the 3g with 64k or no 64k sim card unless you jailbreak your iphone and install the 3g patch and since there is no jailbreak for the ios 7.1 as of now then it will be no 3g for the sprint phone.

It will if Settings, Phone, shows a Sprint or Verizon number. Then you need to run iRose patch to disable cdma for unlock chip to work. I tested GPP 7.9, 8.8 and R-SIM 7.8 on Sprint/Verizon 7.1 and both got 3G, outgiong SMS if My Number had a number. Need to test 64K SIM on one without now.

Well %99.99 of the people who are buying the sprint iphones because they are cheaper than the att iphones so basically they are buying the sprint iphone from someone else to make work on a different carrier and based on that they don't have their number on the iphone.

It doesn't have to be their number. It can just be the old Sprint/Verizon number, but your iMessage and picture settings won't work on the Sprint ones(haven't tested Verizon yet, but probably not either) unless you use 64K SIM. 64K SIM gives you access to Cellular Data Network(automatically changes bundle to Carrier 16.0).

I think most people can't use them because the 7.1 update is forcing new activation and the account is no longer tied to Sprint/Verizon from USA even though it may be bad ESN or clean ESN.

I need to test if 64K SIM will work on unactivated iPhones with My Number Unknown. I think it will with iRose patch.
