Trouble unlocking Straight Talk iPhone SE iOS v11.x w/ GPPLTE/RSIM

N00b to the forum...

I've been reading through the forums but don't exactly understand what I need to do. So I made the biggest mistake of taking out the SIM when it was working. Now when I'm trying to reinsert the SIM, it gives me a SIM error.

I got a new GPPLTE SIM which seems to look like the RSIM. Not if they're one the same but different branding. It appears from what I read that I need to update to iOS v12.2 in order for the SIM to work?!

And the exact steps are:
1. Turn off phone
2. Insert the SIM I want to use along with the GPPLTE SIM
3. Power on the phone & go through the wizard
4. Get to the final screen where it says SIM not recognized, press the home button > dial emergency > *5005*7672*00# > choose ICCID > enter the latest ICCID > and reboot phone?

Once you put the sim inside with chip, you have to dial

I understand I'll need to get the latest ICCID from this forums, but how do I tell which major carrier my Straight Talk iPhone is on?

That shouldn't be an issue once the rsim unlocks it
