Formatting SDcard, nand flash ,....

can some one explain how can I format a sdcard (fat16 & fat32) or any media with avr-atmega128?
sdcard is connected to microcontroller via SPI
I am usnig "Fatfs library" from Mr chan(ELM by ChaN)
I can write sectors one by one (every sector is 512 bytes) with this function:
