GSM Autodialer - Need Help

I have been searching the internet up and down to find a low cost solution to what seems to be a simple alarm system. All the autodialers and GSM alarms offered retail are too expensive and have too many bells and whistles. All I need is an basic alarm system that will notify me via a text page that a door was opened. This is for my business and the unit would be located in rural areas with no power or phone lines and the alarms would be outside. So the alarm would need to run off of a battery that can last atleast a couple of weeks and I guess be attached to a GSM phone that can dial or send me a page if the alarm has been tripped. I have found a couple of solutions that are from the UK but none in the US. Here is a link to a solution that I think would work for me.

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jackcol...l/details.html

If anyone can help me come up with a solution or could build a solution I will need 10 - 50 over the next year. I need the price point to be in the $100 - $150 range with the phone. I am willing to pay to have someone help me custom make one.

Any reccomendations on where I might be able to find someone to help woould also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance if you can help! I can be contacted at:

Dera sir,
It is very good possible to make such a thing on your own, if you have some Electronics & programming skills. I have worked on such a project druing my Electronics engineering studies.
1st of all you will need a microcontroller with a builtin support for UART for the communication with a GSM phone. Second you will need a sensor which will trigger when a door is opend or so.The microcontroller is notified where after it will call for the function SEND_SMS routine in the microcontroller which will send an SMS using the AT-commands(see hays modem-commands) to preprogrammed telephone numbers. Offcourse you could make it fancier using some Movment detection sensors and some other. The most effort is in the programming of the microcontroller .
best regards,

Khaled

Thanks for the info (any suggestions)

Khaled,

Thanks for the info. I unfortunaley have no such skills. Do you know where I could contract someone to make such a thing for me?

Any help in steering me in the right direction would be appreciated!

Thanks!!!

maybe you find mr. g3ggo or someone else that can patch / write a dct-3 phone firmware suit to your application. with costumize firmware, you won't need the optional uC anymore. this might reduced the production cost if the costumize firmware don't cost much( depends the $$$ for patching the firmware ). and reduced the additional hardware.

Since they (g3gg0 and friends) can made they own costumize game. i think the costumize game can be replaced with your alarm application. the output signals from alarm system might be feed to the keypad on the dct3 phones as input.

there is many possiblities anyway.

good luck...

for alarm application, there is no way you can do it without external interface (either microcontroller or a pc), the phone's connector itself is not enough to detect the external alarm, so you can forget the hassle firmware patching since you can dial/sms via it's uart interface. i myself already made this kind of application with mcs51 micro with nokia 5110 (if i'm not mistaken) a long time ago.
try googling, you'll get what you want.
