    Question P800/P802 IMEI Change

Can anyone tell me which software will actually do an IMEI change/repair on a P800/P802? I've seen lots of software advertise this feature but, for example, SonyEricssonServer seems to state that it does but the author(s) informed me it does not yet (but might soon).

I've also read that the IMEI number is written into two areas: the GDFS area which is paired with the ASIC, and in the flash area. Apparently only the latter one can be changed? If this is the case and only one is changed, how is this interpreted by the phone firmware and the service provider? If the firmware has no problem with a difference which one does the service provider see? Or can both be changed?

So, which software can actually change/repair the IMEI on a P800/P802? If you haven't actually tried this process and all you have seen is the advertising or claims made by the software to do this, please don't reply - I've seen them all.

Is there any online logger software that can change the IMEI on a P800? I thought Sonyericcsonserver was able to do this? I have seen various places that have software called "Logger" in various versions up to 7.30 that says it can change IMEI but can it change this on P800?

And why do these places only take Western Union money transfer?!?!?!?!

Okay I have more information about this.. I read somewhere that P800 has OTP (one time programmable) chip and also flash chip. Both contain a copy of the IMEI number of the phone. Does this mean that is a network provider blacklists the IMEI number of the phone, that the one from the OTP chip is read, or the flash? If it is read from OTP chip does that mean OTP chip has to replaced with a blank???

    Advice needed!

So SE Fighter can change the IMEI number on a P800 (has anyone verified this?). What about DIV 8/8.1? The web site says DIV can do this, but there have been a few people who have said that it still does not.

And what about the online logger software? SonyEricssonServer doesn't appear to work for this function on the P800 yet. Anyone have any idea when SonyEricssonServer will be able to set IMEI for P800? And what about other software - anyone know of any other software that can set IMEI on P800?

Would be nice to get some feedback from the SES guys and others.

Thanks for all the advice guys. As I only had one phone to flash I didn't want to shell out the cost of a new P800 on SE Fighter - even though it is clearly the best SE software out there.

In the end I was able to change the IMEI using the cracked DIV 8.2 (the fully working version) and a terminator dongle (cheapest option) - no problems at all.

Thanks again for all your help.

Before anyone tries this make sure you understand completely what you have to do here. [GLOW=red]NEVER perform operations on a phone that does not have a fully charged battery[/GLOW]. A P800 is an expensive piece of kit to accidentally destroy. [list=1][*]Ensure your DIV or Terminator dongle is attached. Do not attach the cable to your P800 at this point.[*]Run the fully operational cracked version of DIV8.2. If you're in any doubt this is d82_all.exe that states it is the 100% fully working version in the window title.[*]Remove the battery from the P800 and attach the cable to the phone. Now replace the battery in the phone but do NOT power up the phone or press any buttons.[*]Select P800 in DIV (selecting any other model could potentially damage your phone in later operations).[*]Before you go any further, select "Backup GDFS" and perform that operation. This is in case something goes wrong and your GDFS gets messed up so you can replace it with your backup if required. You only need to do this operation once - don't backup your GDFS after you have changed your IMEI number or you may lose your original GDFS backup.[*]Now you're ready to change the IMEI number. I used the IMEI number from an old piece of crap Alcatel BF3 phone for this. Remember, [GLOW=red]using a made-up number WILL NOT WORK![/GLOW] This is the mistake most people make, and then wonder why their phone will no longer accept their SIM card or work on any network.[*]Enter the full IMEI number (including the last security digit) into the box next to Change IMEI in DIV. Perform this operation.[*]Once the process has completed remove the battery from the phone and then disconnect the cable. Replace the battery and power on the phone.[*]Your P800 will now have a new IMEI number (as far as the networks are concerned) - but remember the OTP will always contain the original IMEI.[/list=1]To check your IMEI number has changed do the following with the flip-closed (or with virtual flip closed if flip is removed):

jog dial up, *, jog dial down, jog dial down, *, jog dial down, *

If you did it correctly you will now be at the Service Menu. Press 2 to view the Hardware Information and your new IMEI should be displayed here.

I have also changed the IMEI and flashed the AVR and ARM on my T68i without any problems using d82_all.exe, so it's fairly safe to say that it is fully functional.
