V600i can't make voice calls - GSM-Forum

My girlfriends son had his V600i unlocked by a local trader, according to the info screen its now a K600i so I presume he reflashed it to unlock the phone.

The problem is he now can't make/receive voice calls, SMS is fine (it can send & receive) ! I've trawled the menu to see if there is a setting barring voice calls but can't find anything obvious. Is this the result of a bad flash ?

FYI, the 1st week after unlocking it worked fine, the problem just 'appeared' a few days ago. When attempting to make a voice call the phone returns a tone similar to when the network is unavailable. When calling the phone we get a 'phone may be turned off' message.

BTW. I have tried various Sims, they all return the same problem.

Any ideas folks ?

well 1 problem could me that there is with k600i when u r using another sim, theres always problems when making and recieving calls. if this is the problem then go back to retailer and tell him to write new gdfs so the option for 2g/3g appears in setting.

the other problem could be that your phone is barred.

His Sim is the same one that initially worked ok after unlocking the phone, so I don't think it is the Sim reading problem in this case ? I will get him to go back for the GDF change though.

I thought it was barred when he 1st told me of the problem, but would you be able to send/receive SMS if this was the case ?
