Sprint locked HTC 816 help pleaae - GSM-Forum

I'm currently going through boost mobile ..the old phone I had was using a sprint sim card so iwhen it broke I ordered a sprint HTC 816 thinking I could just switch sim cards. That wasn't the case boost wouldnt activate the phone ...I bought a unlock code but there is only a invalid sim message no option to enter the code so can anyone tell me if it's even possible or how to do this...thank you
