try to flash it first mostly in 5s and 5c its software problem!

Yes if nand the problem it will stop at recovery. Then you have to fix nand and have to write firmware again to see how it works. Things get harder when you try software fist with issues like logo restart or hang on logo in apple ..

give a little push in nand with your thumb and re heat it carefully. turn on and see.. but if the problem persists some times you have to replace it but before doing the hard work you should rewrite firmware to see weather it get fixed.
