iPhone 5S "NO SIM" after back cover replacement

I changed the backside cover of my iPhone 5S. Now I get the message "NO SIM". I also installed a fresh version of iOS before I did this, so I am not able to activate the phone because of the "NO SIM" issue. Have I damaged the sim card reader doing the repair? Will it help to get it replaced?

I've had this problem when changing by a Chinese back cover, as along came the SIM tray (drawer), I removed it and placed the original antique, and more beast is back in service.
