iphone not switching off

Hi all,

First post and im a returning member, was very interested and active a few years ago but fell away from the scene altogether. so very new to all the new ways of phones etc. A friend gave me an iphone 5 to see if there is anything that can be done to save or restore it. It is disabled and im not sure if he has been given it or found it and no big deal if it cant be fixed. It wont switch off using the power button, so i cant get it into DFU mode,

I have let the battery run out but when i connect to laptop it starts charging and still wont let me enter DFU mode, any tips on what software to use to try and do anything with it. No big deal if it cant be done it will be kept for spares. I use android phones myself so i am vey new to iphones so bare with me please guys.

Donate money to this user
There is a software called Tenorshare ReiBoot that is good for getting devices in and out of recovery/DFU mode. If you are having issues with your power button it should help.

You need to replace the power button ribbon cable. I think that is the best solution because you will send up needing it in the future. It only cost about $3 on ebay.
