Volume buttons not working after ribbon replacement

I've just done a DIY replacement of the volume/mute ribbon cable on my iphone 5.
The mute and power buttons work fine, but the volume buttons aren't working at all. They aren't really clicking and the external buttons seem very loose. Is there a common work-around to solving this? Everything seems to be in place properly. The ribbon is stuck to the side bracket with the holes lined up.

When you replaced the volume toggle did you check to see if it had 2 metal contacts? I have done a million housing changes and they usually need to be transferred from the original switch hope this helps!

Yes, that looks to be the problem! How do I get them off?

I would get a pair of metal tweezers or anything metal really and blast them with a heat gun, the they should come off
