Not possible anymore just to replace you need to match serial with wifi and bluetooth adress

Some things have changed with ios 11. But as they answered above you can solve by inserting the right data into the nand of the ipad to activate it correctly The only thing really annoying was the last generation. From ipad air 2 onwards. The problem of the wifi does not work after unlocking. Although on ipad Air 2 ios 10x inserting the wifi drivers back to work. Except Air drop .. Air drop will not work .. But little I care..
