Save SHSH Blobs (ECID SHSH) of iPhone 3.1.3 and iPad 3.2!

The Spirit jailbreak is most useful for newer devices: iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, and the iPads. Unfortunately those devices are the same ones that Apple can prevent you from downgrading unless you’ve got a backup of your personalized SHSH blobs. Unless you’ve backed up your SHSH blobs for vulnerable firmware versions, you’ll lose the ability to use the current Spirit jailbreak if you accidentally upgrade.



The following guide uses AutoSHSH to save SHSH blobs of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Step 1: Download the latest version of AutoSHSH. (Download link).
Step 2: Start the program and plug in any ONE of the iDevices (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch) in recovery mode. To do this, turn off your device and hold down the “Home” button while connecting the USB cable until you see “Connect to iTunes” message and logo on your iPhone.

Step 3: Click on “Grab my SHSH Blobs Automatically”. AutoSHSH will now grab the signature for you. Once done, it will ask you to save it locally. Make sure you keep it in a safe place as you might need it when you want to downgrade back to the older firmware. AutoSHSH will also automatically upload the signature file to saurik’s server.

This is it ! You should all be safe now. Spirit jailbreak release is imminent now. Make sure you save the signature for your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch on file before Apple releases the next firmware.

I have 3.1.3 baseband 05.12.01 and yet not unlock (already jailbreak).

There are other threads about how to downgrade. Remember: This procedure is just to save the certificate for firmware 3.1.3, so that you later can downgrade to 3.1.3, when Apple fixes the bug for the Spirit exploit, which will happen in the next days. If you did not save your shsh before Apple stops signing the 3.1.3 firmware, you cannot downgrade the firmware.

If you currently are running firmware 3.1.2 and do the above procedure, it will also save the shsh file for version 3.1.3 (not 3.1.2), because Apple right now only issues certificates for 3.1.3.

Apple always only signs updates for the latest firmware, so that you can never downgrade firmware. If you backup their 3.1.3 certificate now (before tey don't do it anymore), you can always install firmware 3.1.3, even if Apple disallows it. In short, you just intercept the "home call" from iTunes and replace it with a call to Saurik server (or local machine) and receive the shsh file you backup'd now.

When Apple fixes the bug for the Spirit jailbreak, they only sign their new firmware (let's say it's version 3.1.4). Then you cannot install or downgrade to version 3.1.3 anymore, because iTunes won't receive the necessary shsh file from Apple. If you have this file backuped, you can still downgrade to 3.1.3.

Please note that you never can downgrade to 3.1.2 if you didn't save your shsh file before Feb 2010 (or only with old devices, that don't have this check built into their bootrom).

Please also note that the shsh blob is different for every device; it depends on the serial number or something similar, so you cannot use one from somebody else.

Sorry I forgot to mention my iPhone device. It is 3G and with either jailbreak or not jailbreak it say Unsupported device error message. Please help.

for 3G phone doesnt need any SHSH backup

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the newer 3G phones do need a backup. Newer ones have a type MC...
You can check with the f0recast tool what version you have etc.

sir i have 3Gs 32GB new boot 3.1.2 .

i want install 3.1.2 and use spirit to jailbreak and blacksn0w to unlock it.
