It is not a hardware solution.

I think there are three posible ways:
1.) The one MuscleNerd told about, which means a enormous knowledge of system programming.
2.) The manipulation of the application that updates the baseband
3.) Or the direct manipulation of the new baseband,
to make the asking for the version answering with yes.

I don't know, if the baseband file i have realy the original baseband file, so is there a possibility to read out the baseband version?

I've heard there are two cpu's, one for the bootloader and one for the baseband?

And i didn't downloaded and installed the var files (mentioned in the tuto) because they want me to put it under the path .../audio

And i don't need any kind of file in the directory /audio to manipulate the baseband.

That's exactly my point, and that's why it's easy to see this for the prank that it is. If you open up those files with VLC or some other player, you'll see they are a woman saying the digits 0-9,#,* in an erotic manner, as though she's about to orgasm.

A woman's orgasm doesn't trick the baseband into downgrading itself.

The only other files in their "solution" besides the woman orgasms are the stock Apple BBUpdaterExtreme and baseband files, which follow the rules I described above.

Notice that their own video shows them at baseband 02.30 after their "solution" is run.

Yes, but that can't be done because the identity of any given firmware is embedded within it, and is protected crypotgraphically by a signed hash. Modifying the identity inside the image ruins the hash, and causes it to be rejected.

CommCenter does not participate in the BB programming step. You ask it to get out of your way so that you can run BBUpdaterExtreme.

Right, Apple just invokes BBUpdaterExtreme using the newer firmware files. The baseband will accept them since their version # is greater than its own.

Either scroll to the bottom of Settings->General->About, or launch minicom using /dev/tty.debug and issue the "AT+XGENDATA" command.

Do this at your own risk.

must haves:
1. wireless router connection
2. WINSCP
3. Toggle ssh, mobileterminator, automatic ssh (available from cydia via wifi)

howto:
1. Downgrade your 2.2.1 Iphone to 2.2, during downgrading some error will occur---that's ok
2. Do quickPwn2.2 procedures (U must know it by now, else, start from reading howto unlock/jailbreak the Iphone thru quickpwn)phone is in DFU btw.
3. unlock using yellowsnow.
4. install automatic ssh then Toggle ssh
5. Now install WINscp to your PC and mobileterminator

USER NAME: root
PASSWORD: alpine
7. Save and Close. Then Open again to login: password: alpine
8. Your on the Iphone's Root, we will now be copying the files (attached).

9. <root>/system/library/audio/uisounds copy paste this file...
10. then <root>/var/root/ this file...
11. after that go to system/liblary/launchDaemons/com.apple.commcenter.plist ( rigth click)
properties on the box Octal enter 755 then click OK

12. Turnoff Iphone. Exit Winscp
13. Open mobileterminator


14. type su
15. Password: alpine
16. ype: chmod 755 BBUpdaterExtreme
17. Type: ./BBUpdaterExtreme update -f ICE2_02.28.00.fls -e ICE2_02.28.00.eep
18. Restart the iPhone



19. Phone will power on after a loooong wait
20. Done. Drink your Beer!

You first have to jailbreak your phone to get cydia.
Then open cydia ->search >"mobileterminal" -> install.
You also need openssh to access your phone from your computer.

But pay attention, this is an ssh connection to your phone.
You should use this only, if you know what you are doing!

So you've really overidden your sound files???
But you just have to copy the var.rar file into you UISounds directory!
So with ssh you can remove the file. Not if you've overriden the whole directory!
OK. I copied it (UISounds) to my computer, but its a file with 2,2MB and i can't attache it. If you need it tell me. (or get it back by doing the Update with iTunes)

sorry, i've tried to install minicom, but i have problems with setting it up.
Always, when i try to give the paths, i can't use the cursor.
It's always jump out and i haven't find a possibility to save my settings.

And i'm not sure, if i really deleted the firmware,if so, is it still possible to use AT commands to check the modem?
sorry for my stupid question, but does minicom communicates directly with the modem or with the firmware?

I mean i send a command to the modem and the firmware on it is answering???
While googlin tonight, i found there is a cmd to set the firmware number.
So i would try to give the firmware the old (lower) number 02.28.00
and then i would try to flash the 02.28.00 by the apple Updater.
As i told, I'm not a hacker, but i would like to use my phone.
And i'm now very interested, because i saw there is a unix/linux OS running on the phone.
And i think now MuscleNerds way is the only way that gives us the possibility to access the modem firmware. By AT commands.
But first i have to know how to setup minicom and how to use it.
(last time i access a modem directly with AT commands is 3 years ago)

For all:
The procedure in this tuto makes my phone very insable!!!
It has no network!
It restarts every 3 minutes and i'm not sure if that stops after i put the new firmware on it. The only way would maybe to take the official update by itunes and then you're back on 02.30.00 firmware, hmm...

Now, I probably messed up. Cause:
The iPhone does recognize my simcard. Yet all i'm getting is a small vertical stripe and 3 dots (or little horizontal stripes ). It does'nt search for my carrier and flightmode does'nt help either, unless I depress it a 100 times. Then it searches for a minute or so and then says no service.

Any tips? I'll try again 2night, gotta go too work now.
