dear Bro i face same problem. i remove Battery, wash full PCB, some hit under Lamp,
repair I/O Connector, Then Restore Firmware but error.

now i finding upgrade Firmware for my i phone 3G (8GB).

IC ID: 579C-A1241

change back cover mien good shachi and then try to flash or exit recovery mode. I was face this problem and solved it.

guys i solved this problem it's 1000000% hardware problem i just re hot nand chip and change usb pot of your pc hope its work

warming nand helps, i just restored my iphone 3gs after error 28!

bud its not permanent, how hot should i go and for how long?

use a battery with correct APN number and then it will work.
