iPhone 3G Error 3194 When Restoring! (Solution)

why i always get that error since i did already editing my hosts? is there any other sulotion, i have here stuck on logo 3gs

3194 means no shsh available. But 3G phones don't check shsh, only iTunes does. So don't restore through iTunes if you don't have shsh. For 3G you should use redsn0w anyway, because it protects your baseband.

And for 3GS you need shsh backup on Cydia, otherwise you cannot downgrade!

well i tried the method but i get an error in the edit hosts, i cant edit it or write anything in it.
any thoughts????

Make sure the read-only flag is not set. Disable antivirus/anti-malware software.

3194 means you have no shsh backup on Cydia. Without shsh backup no restore possible.

I think that's some misled information that I browsed through the site..

Basically, if my iPhone 3GS was jailbreak earlier under the version 3.1.3 and I'd accidentally pressed "RESET ALL" that caused the 3GS at recovery mode. I'd tried all methods posted online and still receiving error 3194..

Do I have to use iTune 9.2 or it works on 10.1 version too? Any ideas to assist my doubts would much appreciated. I have the .ipsw (4.1 version) so do I need to get back my old version that after Jailbreak (3.1.3)?

Reset all shouldn't lead to your iPhone in recovery mode. But if it is there, you should first try TinyUmbrella's "Kick out of recovery" button. If that doesn't help, you need to restore. (If you're on 4.2.1 you maybe need redsn0w to boot tethered.)

To restore 4.1, you need shsh for 4.1, otherwise you get iTunes error 3194. Check with TinyUmbrella what versions you have on Cydia.

If you don't have shsh backup, you cannot install that firmware.

If you want to install 3.1.3, you can do so also only with shsh backup for 3.1.3. You can use the newest iTunes for all installs - you don't need an old version.

Thanks for sharing.. but if I did not pre-back up the shsh, can I still install back 3.1.3? I'd downloaded the Tiny Umbrella 4.2.1 version but that's no "Kick Out Recovery" key to press.. moreover the redsn0w is only used for Jail Breaking right.. I went to boot tether but it did not work.

does say mean if I am downloading the latest iTunes 10.1 version then all this crap steps can be avoided? is really frustrating since yesterday evening.. tried almost all methods..

I was entered the Reset All with deleting all Media and Data that caused this problem which I felt rather annoying why it led to this situation whereby I could not do anything to recover it..

The Apple Logo is freeze out there without running anything.. so I pressed the Home/Sleep Button a few times then it went to Recovery Mode straight away so when I try to sync n restore from iTunes then the error message pop up "3194".. changed the IP at drivers of System 32 but can't help either..

please really need your expertise on this trouble shooting

For EVERY firmware version you install, you need a SHSH file. For newest firmware 4.2.1 you get it automatically from Apple. For other versions, you need a shsh backup. Without it you cannot install.

Check TinyUmbrella tool (backup all button and wait a few minutes) to see what you have backed up. Most users are surprised to see what they have.

The "Kick out of recovery" button is named differently in newest TinyUmbrella tool, but it still exists.

thanks for sharing.. no shsh was found and was not able to do back up.. some how or rather I'd accidentally upgraded to 4.2.1 version ^^ poor things that the screen color looks abit weird compared to my IP4..

anyway or noway to downgrade right? possibly gotta wait for the new JB for 4.2.1

If TinyUmbrella says there's no SHSH except 4.2.1, then yes, you cannot install anything except 4.2.1.

Because 4.2.1 is tethered, wait for a new untethered jailbreak for it. It's announced to come out soon (within next three weeks).
