i just bought a unlock iphone 3gs 5.12
all the networks are working on it but the 3UK network is not working on it
and the itunes is saying it does not recogine the sim
any way i can fix it

Its a 3gs 3.1.3 5.12

Try to disable 3g under Settings > General > Network.

Restore your iPhone from i tunes then try to activate it with 3UK simcard inside.

If that don't work try to put any other sim from your friend that is on 3UK
network if don't work than maybe iphone don't support this cards. If works
with than go to your mobile operator and replace SIM card I was have the
same situation with Motorola V3x with Croatian TELE2 card. All cards from
other operators works normaly and when you put TELE2 than phone just
stuck on boot logo.
