New member, old hacker

Greetings all,

Let me correct myself, I'm not really a hacker I just read and use the programs and procedures that those who are brighter than I created.

I have had experience in the satellite card arena and since that is no longer an option or a very closed circle. I have moved on.

I have been experimenting with phones for some time mostly with Verizon CDMA. Recently experimenting with Net10 AT&T sim. I was surprised when I toggled back to my wife's CDMA-V phone from my AT&T Net10 sim which only produced Edge data on my Verizon Galaxy S3. When I tried to reactivate the sim again it was unusable. Net10 is sending another as I search for an appropriate used AT&T phone that will have LTE.

I come here to answer the question as to why the sim was a one shot deal and if that can be changed by programming. Not sure if any of the information here relates to CDMA LTE sims or just GSM.

Cloning my grandfathered Verizon unlimited data sim would be my pie in the sky but as I understand it difficult for a number of reasons. It would be swell to have one sim in my phone and one in my Mifi hotspot. I would only use one at a time but it would be convenient to not swap back and forth.

I know cloning is frowned upon but possible. I once cloned an LG Voyager with the ESN of a Droid X. Since they were not LTE that project was shelved as it was just an experiment with no real purpose. It did work though.

I look forward to learning what has been shared here so as to minimize my cost of cellular service. If any of the above has broken any rules, apologies.

SH
