Help please samsung gt-e2550 unlock does not work

Hi there guys, hope you can help.

I have a Samsung GT-E2550 phone locked to Tesco Network in the UK. I have asked paid to companies to give me an unlock code. Both give me the same unlock code which does not work.

here is my imei number : 35517004280274/6 and i am trying to use an Orange card.

the is the code both companies give me

Put in the non-accepted Simcard you wish to use and and turn it on.
Type this code *#9998*3323#

In some newer models you may have to use this code instead #*7337#


and this is what is happening when i try

when i put Orange sim in it says network lock, with a rectangluar box underneath to type the code in. When i type the star in it doesnt do anything, the cursor stays flashing in the same position. once i hit hash key (#) i get the message "password to short"

it apears to me the the star key (*) is doing nothing and the hash key is acting as a OK button. The passcode lets me put numbers in i have tried, but obviously i only have 8 attempts now


I appreciate any help you can give. I am starting to think this can't be unlocked. I have called the Tesco Network as I would pay them but it is £20 which is OK I suppose but they will not issue me with the code for 28days.

This seems to be turning into a nightmare.
