Help with unlocking my Blackberry Pearl - GSM-Forum

I bought an unlocked Blackberry Pearl naively thinking I could just slide my SIM card in the phone and start making phone calls. It's not that easy. The phone is an unlocked AT&T phone but it won't recognize my SIM, which is a GSM SIM card from a small, local cell phone carrier. In the security fields it tells me the SIM is disabled. Does anyone have any idea how to enable it? Or can anyone point me to a service that can help?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

take it to a phone repair shop

go to options, advanced option, simcard, then type in "meppd" there should be five options that pop up what appears?

after that you will need to buy the unlock code in case "network" appear "active"
