Most sony J series phone require cable.

Yes, in fact I use exact same software and cable to unlock both Z7 and J70

i bought a data cable and tried to use the z7 software ,but it keeps saying bad data,its a serial data cable,do i need a driver for the cable.

Make sure you have to right cable - they're are 2 cables available, one for unlocking and one for synchronisation, also make sure you are using Windows 95/98
